Each team is allowed 4 skaters and 1 goalie. Skating players are to remain the same throughout the entire tournament. (Exception: Bronze/Novice league allowed, but not required, to have 5 skaters) If there are not enough goalies for each team, goalies will be assigned Toss Up style. If for any reason a player cannot continue, play will become 4 on 3. Teams can play with no less than 3 skaters and 1 goalie. If a team cannot field this minimum, the game will be declared a forfeit. Minimum age: 16.
All players must bring a light & dark jersey and confer with opposing team prior to each game.
There is a 1 minute warmup before each game. Next scheduled teams must be ready to take the rink IMMEDIATELY upon completion of the preceding game.
All games will be 12 minutes long with a running clock throughout.
All penalties will result in a penalty shot. If a penalty is called before time has expired, the penalty shot will be taken regardless of whether or not the clock runs out before the shot is completed. Penalized team must play the puck from behind their own goal line within five (5) seconds after shot is taken. Major and match penalties shall result in an ejection and/or suspension from the remainder of the tournament.
All games start with an opening face-off. This will be the only face-off of the game (unless puck exits rink). Puck will be played off the netting.
After a goal or goalie stoppage, the scoring team will retreat to the blue line and the puck will go behind the non-scoring team’s net. Team must play the puck from behind their own goal line within five (5) seconds, otherwise opposing team may then forecheck after the five (5) second grace period expires.
During round robin play there is no overtime, so games that end in a tie after 12 minutes will be a tie and each team will receive 1 point in the standings. During playoffs, any games that are tied after 12 minutes will proceed directly to a 3-person shootout. If then still tied, a sudden death shootout.
In the event of a seeding tie for playoffs, the following will be the order of determination: Wins, Head to Head, Goal Differential, Goals For, then Goals Against.
All other rules will follow the USARS/AAU rulebook. This includes the 3-penalty rule.
Required equipment: Inline skates (no brakes), shinguards (covered by pants), gloves, helmet (face cage or half shield strongly suggested), elbow pads, and stick. Players required to bring a white/light and a black/dark jersey to each game.
